Wow, let's just say that there's been some hot debates about how mean the judges are this season on American Idol and how "mentally challenged" people on there are. As Michael says (after reading Geoff's post at New Cool Thang, "Wow, people are getting really judgemental about being judgemental." In a way, it almost seemed like Geoff's saying that if we laugh at people who can't sing on AI, we're the equivalent of the kids on the school bus making fun of the short bus driving by. The ones who get all irate that they're not going to be hanging with Paris Hilton and drinking gratis Grey Goose martinis out of models' bellybuttons or whatnot ... yeah. Then there are the ones that definately need some kind of ... um ... personal designer, etc. They don't seem to realize that if you're not in GOOD shape, you'd better have charisma, people skills, good hygiene, and singing skills up the wahzoo. There are pop stars out there who needed some special work on their image ... but most of them have not gotten to stardom through American Idol, where image IS a rather big consideration in who does (and who does NOT) get through to Hollywood. Which is yet another reason I do not audition. My singing is passable ... more musical theatre than pop-star. Why set myself up? So there's my two cents on that. Yeah.
