This is last night's conversation while I was devouring the latest Bas Bleu catalog (which is full of books and books and notecards and books and gifts and books and a couple of toys and books and did I mention it has books??). Me: *preens* Oh, I've read that one before I even started receiving this catalog! And I've read two on the past page. Michael: You are so cute. Me: What? Why? Michael: You're so excited ... Who else would be this excited about a catalog full of books?? Me: ... Um, ... People who love books, I guess. Oh! Look at this one! It'sabookwithcloseupsoffamouspaintings! ThiswouldbeSOcool. *This is where Michael covers the description up and has me guess what paintings are in it. Not fair of him, since I only JUST GLANCED at it.* Michael: WHY would this book be so cool? ME: Because you'd never get that close to a painting and see all the details unless you, like, go to the Louvre. Is that you you pronounce it? "Lerrve?" Or it is more like "looooo-ve"? How do the Frnech pronounce it? I still like the Dutch pronounciation of "Van Gough" -- "Van Gougkch." Michael: Yes, because it's like clearing your throat. Me: Those crazy Dutch people. It makes me laugh. *I turn the page* Me: Ooooooooh!!! Lookit this!! It's a candle and "the scent is designed to 'evoke the rivh fragrance of a library with a carefully selected blend of aromatic ingredients gathered from around the world.'" Wow, honey. It smells like BOOKS! Michael: That's kinda c ... That's THAT expensive?!? Me: It SMELLS LIKE BOOKS! What's $45 dollars compared to the smell of books? Michael: That better be a HUGE candle. Me: Let's see. It's 6.8-oz ... about *shows with hands* this big. Michael: $45 for THAT? No way. Me: But what if I'm somewhere without books and I start to have a panic attack and I could just smell this candle and be all "I'm okay now." Michael: Since when do you ever get panic attacks? Me: It could happen. Maybe after the machete acciden ... Michael: And where do you ever go without a book? Me: I went to the WIC appointment without any books. Michael: But there was one in the car. Me: No, there wasn ... Michael: Yes, there was. Me: Oh. But that's our 'reading together' book. I don't read that one by myself. Michael: But you could. Me: No, I read something that I'm reading by myself. Michael: And you have one book with you when you go somewhere. Me: At least one. Michael: So you don't need the book-scented candle. Me: But I want it! I need it! I desire it! Because it smells like BOOKS! Michael: Do you hear how silly you sound? Me: I'm going to blog that you said that. Michael: Go ahead. but you have to put down what led up to that. Me: Take all my fun away. But really, if you love books, order the Bas Bleu catalog. I read it and drool (not literally. That'd be gross and make the pages slickery.)
