(No, it's not about Daria, though I So wish it were!) Here's how yesterday went: Overall, good.
Here's the breakdown: -Woke up around 6:30 (after the awakenings for feeding Bruce around 3 and 5 A.M.)
-Got the screaming Zo-girl and sat in the computer chair (my regular haunt) in the living room.
-As I'm feeding Zoë, I hear "THUMP!! ... Waaaah!" Yes, Bruce climbed off the bed to try and come out and see Mommy and Zo. Oops. There were pillow around him and everything. *sigh* Got everyone (including me!!) fed and ready for the day and for Visiting Teaching (where two ladies in the church ward are paired together to visit a set of other ladies in the ward. My VT companion, K, and I visit three "sisters" [NOT nuns, mind you. Just ladies in the ward]).
One sister either wasn't there or wasn't answering her door (after rescheduling, this is a wee bit annoying ... but we'll get her yet! AARRRRGH! <-- Obviously, I've turned from Visiting Teacher to Pirate, Shivarr me timbers!), but we were able to visit the other two.
Bruce and Zo were pretty well-behaved, but getting cranky. We drove to pick up my sundry supplies (read: mostly milk) at the grocery store where their nap was disturbed. I got to talk to my favorite checker and found out that she'll be gone for a month. She's going to Disneyland with her girlfriends for her bachelorette party and getting married. She'll be back in September. I wished her luck and all. She complimented Bruce and Zoë for their good behavior (their wanna-be-nap trance, really :D) Got home to find that I had missed two calls from my dad. Kids napped a little. When LaVonne called, Zoë was in a bit of a fit, and Bruce wanted to be held, too.
So there we are, all three of us in the computer chair, me with a rounded-lozenge of a phone wedged by my ear, chatting around the jabberings/whinings of the Kindern ... And Zo leans/crawls over the arm of the chair "THUMP! WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!!!!!!" (Yes, my dear girl's dulcet siren of a wail starts.)
I put Bruce in the Exersaucer ... of course he folds at least one leg underneath him ... and comfort the princess. Bruce, entertained by Diana-cat walking by, tries to stand/bounce and overbalances himself, falling out backwards of the exersaucer "THUNK! Waaah!!!" as I nurse Zoë, so I can't get up and reach him.
I call to him, as he's sat up and is crying, to come here and I can pick him up ... but he stops craying after a few seconds and starts playing with a toy nearby. It never ceases to amaze me that my children are still alive. Remarkably, there aren't any huge bruises or anything. And people say there are no miracles today. That's bull. There are. Look at the fact that my kids haven't suffered brain damage yesterday. ...Of course when I text-ed Michael about it, his response to the message about kids have fallen text was "From more than four feet?"
It's nice to have a practical person in a relationship. Oh, and in other news, with Bruce finally voicing a consonant sound ("Buh/Bah"), I can ask him who his favorite band is and he MIGHT reply "Uh-Buh". Then I crow to Michael that Bruce has my taste in music and is saying "ABBA." (I totally know he's not saying "ABBA," but I can joke about it. I need some humor in this situation ... or else I'll really be insane, instead of just joking about it. :P) Gotta comfort the little man. Take care, y'alls!!
