Title du jour:

Anti Social

2006-08-15 - 12:40 p.m.

Last week, I realized that I'm not the outgoing social-butterfly I used to be.

We had "Activity Day" for the girls (8-11) in our ward (at church). I talked mostly with the three girls that I teach in Sunday School and one of the girls' younger sister.
After Activity Day was over, all the adult women were about ten feet away, gabbing. I'm putting B & Z in their carseats and talking with my girls.

In the other wards I've been in, I usually had at least one (if not more) good friends that I could talk to. Since my Bwi-Bwi moved away, I don't have any really close friends in my ward. There are some girls that I enjoy talking with, cloes to my age, but I never see them since they're in Relief Society and I'm in Primary.

Now, I realized, my days revolve around my kiddos, cleaning, getting a shower at some point, emailing and blog-reading, and reading. I usually don't call people (again, my anti-social tendencies kicking in), and I usually forget to ask anyone for help (We've had NUMEROUS offers from people willing to watch the kids).

Yesterday, Jill called. I'm ashamed to admit that usually I don't enjoy talking to her (probably because I don't really care for her brother, which is a crap reason to not care for someone), but I was thrilled to talk to her. She always is great for giving me the gossip from our old ward, which is great to hear. It made me superglad that SOMEONE called and wanted to talk to me. I got to ask about her pregnancy (thankfully, she's barely having any morning sickness this time, as opposed to when she was pregnant with her now-1-year-old).

THEN my Terra called. And it was good to talk to her. Yeah, proof that Heavenly Father loves me ... as I'm down because I don't have any close friends nearby (all the people that I'd usually call are busy with their own kids ... or so I think), He has people call me and let me know that I'm cool enough to call.

Also, last week, my Cynthia mailed Bruce and Zoë a CD of French children's songs. How cool is that?? I'm so glad that she and I have remained in touch so well. Of course, I miss her terribly since she's in Europe and I'm not and all... but still!

We went to the D County fair on Saturday, where Zoe got to touch a bunny (with her foot) and Bruce seemed to be freaked out a bit by the sheep ... but pet (and laughed a ton at) a goat.

My Bri got her new phone. Unfortunately I can't text her on it ... but I can call HER and not her husband's phone. Good to know. ^_^ I need to take advantage of that.

Cleaned the house (after rearranging the kiddos' room ... Dad and LaVonne got us a second crib. I had to rearrange so that WE could get into the room with all that furniture in there!). The home teachers are coming over tonight. I need to cook the peaches from mom and store the raspberries, too.

If I can, I also want to get further in The Shining since I'm only about 80 pages into it. We can hope that I don't go all "Red rum, RED RUM!!" on the family. Of course, I don't drink nor do I have a mallet. But I could start typing that "All work and no play makes Llanna a dim wit" or something like that.
But Michael takes good care of me. He made dinner last night (and plans on making it tonight, too) and let me get away from child-rearing duties to relaz in a wonderously-scented bath.

Tomorrow, Mom and Julie (my aunt) asre coming to visit and stay the night. The good thing about cleaning up for the HT (home teachers), is that the place is clean for Mom and Ju.

I need to call Steve (my uncle) and give him info that I found from websearches for him. Last time I called him, he called me "sweetheart," which made me feel all special. So I'm Steve's "sweetheart" and Pop-pop's "onery little critter." Good stuff.

Sorry to ramble on so much. Now I'm going to nurse Bruce, finsih reading blogs, and take a shower, cook peaches, and maybe try to tackle that disaster area of a spare room of ours. Wish me MUCHO luck there!!
