I had received a forward and HAD to check its legitimacy.

I love Snopes.com. I get enough forwards that sound like a crank-ish call of information --- or MISinformation.

Was I thrilled to find that I could post the forward I got without feeling like I was selling snake oil!

So, the link above (which, since I'm crap at HTML, you'll have to copy and paste to check out its awesomeness) is where Snopes discusses the validity of the forward.

Here's what my friend Mandarin (not her real name, but a good nickname. I never get fruit-y nicknames. The closest I could get would be "Iguana" or "Llama", since those are the only natural things close to my first name (rhyming and all, that is)) sent me:

He has jail meals down to 40 cents a serving and charges the inmates for them. He stopped smoking and porno magazines in the jails. Took away their weights. Cut off all but "G" movies.

He started chain gangs so the inmates could do free work on county and city projects. Then he started chain gangs for women so he wouldn't get sued for discrimination.

He took away cable TV until he found out there was a federal court order that required cable TV for jails. So he hooked up the cable TV again but only let in the Disney channel and the weather channel. When asked why the weather channel he replied, so they will know how hot it's gonna be while they are working on my chain gangs.

He cut off coffee since it has zero nutritional value. When the inmates complained, he told them.....this is a good one......"This isn't the Ritz/Carlton. If you don't like it, don't come back."

He bought Newt Gingrich' lecture series on videotape that he pipes into the jails. When asked by a reporter if he had any lecture series by a Democrat, he replied that a democratic lecture series might explain why a lot of the inmates were in his jails in the first place.

Really, you can tell what a fat cat I am because I'm all about this (and I only feel bad since I do know a couple people in prison. One who's really wrongfully there as a result of the county DA needing a BIG case to get reelected, but I digress).

I'm sick of repeat offenders and of the sex-offenders who "neglect/fail/forget" to register. I'm also not into prisoners getting stuff that most of our nation's citizens don't get -- free cable, access to gyms, GREAT and free health care ... all paid by US, the people who haven't molested, murdered, stolen, shot, raped, or threatened anyone else.

If all prisons were more like this, I'd be thrilled. I mean, really, this sheriff cut costs by refusing to serve coffee (not due to nutritional values, but due to cost -- about $94,000/year, in just ONE prison. Imagine how much money would be saved if none of the nation's prisoners had access to coffee. AND the other reason Arpaio took coffee away was to protet guards and prisoners from coffee-inflicted burns. Good thinking!!

Yeah, I'm heartless. I figure if criminals get free cable and health care, so should the rest of us. OR you could just treat criminals the way that they'd be treated if they WEREN'T on the inside. They'd have to pay for their own health care (or go into debt doing so, just like a whole lot of honest citizens) and pay for their food and pay for their cable and pay back people for the crap that they (the prisoners) have pulled.

If you fail to register as a sex offender, let there be REAL consequences!! Back into prison if you can't be responsible. You repeat a crime? Double the time and double the cost to take care of you. Let it come out of your pocket! You have no money?? Let's put you on a chain gang. You can be just like the rest of the world -- need money? Get off your duff, watching cable TV and earn it!
